The Opportunity
The mission of the Monetization team is to establish our product-led packaging, subscription model, and billing and scale them as we expand and grow our business.
Our team is responsible for building robust Billing systems, focusing on payments, renewals, sales tax, and revenue. We also work closely with all the teams to integrate their products with our packaging model thus offering our customers the best features, pricing, and services through self-serve purchases and our Sales channels.
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Engineer who will lead our initiatives for a powerful config-driven platform, improving customer purchase experience and working on the internal tools to match the scale of the growth of Postman.
What You'll Do

Work on our core Billing platform to improve Plans and Add-Ons config, power our Client Infra with config-driven packaging, and have a powerful backend system that can swap between different Payment providers

Lead the active development of our internal services to introduce new frameworks, optimize the APIs, improve scale and reliability

Research and plan out new Monetization strategies, introduce Multi-region and multi-currency support, integrate tax services for new regions, and add new Payment Method support

Empower the sales-driven purchase flows by adding new Admin controls, Discounts, and Credit tracking framework, and provide new custom pricing and subscription models.

Contribute to developing APIs and products while working with a cross-functional team of Product Managers, Designers, Support and Product, Quality, Security, and Platform Engineers.

Perform code reviews, define Infra guidelines, and advocate better practices for software engineering by mentoring and encouraging others around you to build a quality product
About You
-
6+ years of experience developing complex, distributed software applications at Postman’s scale
-
Proficiency in Javascript, Node.js, TypeScript, Mysql, Redis, and essential understanding of React.Js and web fundamentals.

Strong knowledge of Database fundamentals, especially on the performance aspects such as optimizing queries, schema design, indexing, and caching.

Strong Infrastructure knowledge including AWS systems, Kubernetes, CI/CD Pipelines, Automation scripts, and monitoring tools (like Cloudwatch, and Newrelic)

Proven record of building products and services from scratch and leading teams for new and complex projects

Prior experience in closely collaborating with and respectfully challenging other stakeholders, such as PM, EM, etc.

(Bonus) Good understanding of Monetization platforms (Payments, Subscriptions, Taxes, Revenue recognition, Sales Driven purchase contracts, and custom subscriptions)
